His Wolf Protector – Exclusives
Cali
Waking up the morning after Remy’s engagement party, I felt like crap. Considering how much I had to drink, I was surprised I had woken up at all. I never drank that much and I knew I shouldn’t have last night.
Hil thought my drinking was about liquid courage. In a way, he was right. But it wasn’t the courage to act like the distraction Remy’s plan required. It went far deeper than that.
Months earlier, Armand had kidnapped Hil. He had felt the need to shoot someone before he let Hil go, so I let him shoot me. Despite it being in the leg, I hated him for it. If I could have, I would have ripped off his head for what he had done to Hil and me.
But that was before I returned home and reconnected with my newly found brothers. During our next call together, Claude shared surprising news. For months, we had been trying to get anything we could from our mothers about the father we shared. It turned out that Claude had gotten his name.
When I read it, Claude asked if I had recognized it. I told him that I hadn’t. But that wasn’t true. I had.
Our father’s name was Armand Clément. The man who had shot me was my father. The woman Remy was being forced to marry was my sister. And because I loved Hil, I had agreed to help put my father in jail for the rest of his life.
I was dealing with a lot. The drinking was the only way I could go through with it. And seeing that we all weren’t dead, I had to assume that the plan had worked. My father was now arrested and was being held by the FBI.
Had I made a mistake? I had no doubt that Armand was an awful, and dangerous wolf. But considering he had not just won the heart of my very smart mother, but had done the same to my brothers’ mothers, didn’t that mean that there was once more to him? Was that side of him lost forever? If I had told him who I was, would he have had a change of heart?
It was too late now, but if I had to do it over, I would have done things differently. If he wasn’t going to be locked up for the rest of his life, I would have told my brothers who he was. Instead of writing him off, I would have asked my brothers to help me connect with him.
Working together, we might have changed him. Remy had made him seem like he was beyond redemption but there was always a chance, wasn’t there?
Anyway, that’s what I would have done if Armand wasn’t already in FBI custody. But seeing how comfortably Hil was sleeping beside me, I was sure the threat to his life had been removed.
If things were different, though… If I had a second chance to connect with my father, I was sure that the lives of everyone back home would change forever. If only I had that second chance.
